The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT) has issued Notification No. 46/2025, dated 9th May 2025, officially releasing the updated ITR-7 Form for the Assessment Year 2025–26. This new form replaces the previous version outlined in Appendix II of the Income-tax Rules, 1962.
The revised ITR-7 is specifically designed for charitable and religious trusts, political parties, research institutions, and similar entities that claim exemptions under key sections of the Income-tax Act, such as Sections 11, 12, 10(23C), and 13A.
This update aims to enhance compliance clarity and ensure that tax-exempt organizations strictly adhere to the conditions specified under the Act. Affected entities are advised to review and align their accounting and reporting systems in accordance with the revised form requirements before filing their returns.
